Help Find Madeline

Missing British toddler Madeline McCann has created a wave of sympathy and even verbal attacks on her parents for leaving her un supervised.

These are just a few of the hundreds of comments from the Raising Kids Site on Madeleine who went missing in Portugal

Madeleine

Why leave their child alone while dining was the first thing that sprang to my mind!  But i thought i was being unfair seeing as they are now going through such an awful time.  I just hope to god it is a childless family that has taken her and not a paedophile.  Even though it’s still terrifying.

I wouldn’t leave my children alone if we were in Butlins or anywhere in this country.  Put them in the pram and make sure they have blankets and then they can go to bed when you go back!

But i still hope and pray they will be reunited sooner rather than later.

his poor wee Madeleine….I do hope they find her safe and well.

I’m sorry though, I just cannot understand the mentality of people who are prepared to leave their children alone like that. Even though they say they were checking every half an hour, as we know ALL sorts of things could happen in that time. These children were FAR to young to be left in this situation. And a ‘20 minute check’ babysitting service is no better either, IMO. A babysitter should be there, in the room, the whole damn time; not listening on a monitor or at the door.

If you want a nice holiday where you can go out for dinner with your OH like you used to - don’t take the kids on holiday. Leave them with relatives. You have children and your life CHANGES. Your options change. Your priorities change. Your children come first, surely. If you don’t want your life to change, you don’t have kids.

Apart from the dangers of other people then are also dangers like fire, gas leaks, children falling from cribs etc - all stuff that you need to be closer that forty paces away to detect.

I CAN sypathise and hope to God that this little Madeleine turns up safe and well. I will not comment on the parents because I don’t know them or how they normally behave (as my Mum said today a lot of normally careful parents make one mistake and the first time they do they are caught out), I just know that this is not the way that I do things.

We have paid for our mother in law to come on holiday with us (and we are not well off beleive me!) so that we can have a night out together on our holiday. I am sure she would have paid for herself but to me it is a huge favour to us and as I CHOSE to have my little man I am resigned to any little inconveninces that come along (also it is no hardship having her along as she is a lovely woman and my son worships her!).

Anyway - all arguments aside, I hope that this turns out well for them and their little Madeleine
